The death of such senior figures serves as a major blow to the level of military experience among Russia's forces on the battlefield, according to Sam Cranny Evans, a military analyst at the London-based Royal United Services Institute think tank. “Some senior Russian officers could have fought in Аfghanistan, Chechnya twice, Georgia, Syria, Ukraine, so there is the scope for a loss of an enormous amount of experience,” Cranny Evans said.
