Dr Ashley Hess

Biography

Dr Ashley Hess most recently served as the Finance and Economics Expert on the United Nations (UN) Security Council’s Panel of Experts, established pursuant to resolution 1874 (the DPRK Panel of Experts).

She previously served as a Senior Policy Advisor in the US Department of Treasury’s Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes (TFFC). Prior to that, Dr Hess worked for the US Department of State as a Senior Foreign Affairs Officer in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN), the Pressure and Sanctions Coordinator in the Office of the Special Representative for North Korea (S/DPRK), and the Acting Deputy US Coordinator for UN Security Council Resolution 1540. Dr Hess also previously worked at the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as well as the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO).

She received her PhD in Biodefense from George Mason University, her MA in International Relations from Seoul National University, and her BA in International Relations and Classics from Brown University.
