Biography

Professor Michael Clarke was the Director-General of RUSI from 2007-2015. He is a Visiting Professor at King's College London, having been Professor of Defence Studies at KCL from 1995-2007, founder of the Centre for Defence Studies and finally Deputy Vice Principal of the College.

He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Exeter and a Fellow of the Royal College of Defence Studies. Since 2022, he has been Defence and Security Analyst at Sky News.

His recent books include: The Challenge of Defending Britain (2019), Tipping Point: Britain, Brexit and Security in the 2020s (with Helen Ramscar) (2020) and Great British Commanders: Leadership, Strategy and Luck (2024).
