A senior cleric in the Iranian judicial system, Ebrahim Raisi has won the Iranian presidential elections with 62 per cent of the votes cast. While he has expressed support for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the 2015 nuclear deal), Iran’s president-elect has been described as a conservative and hard-line figure, heralding a tough negotiating position in the months ahead.
