Kathryn Westmore, from the Royal United Services Institute, a think tank, said: “If you have ever tried to open an account with some of these banks, you will know that it is quite straightforward as long as you can present a valid document, which it is fairly easy to fake. “Some banks now consider it a ‘red flag’ if a potentially suspicious transaction involves an account with certain companies on the basis that they believe those institutions have lax controls.”
