Professor Trevor Taylor, at the Royal United Services Institute, suggested that the one-off costs of supplying equipment to Ukraine "should mean some compensatory funding for defence from the Treasury". He expects ministers will want to know the likely outcome of the war before reviewing the MoD budget, but he acknowledged that the outlook was brighter for the sector: "Defence companies do benefit when it's a hostile world, because the MoD turns to them."
