UK to buy five Boeing surveillance planes for $2bn

Justin Bronk, an analyst with the UK defence think-tank the Royal United Services Institute, said the new aircraft represented “a significant upgrade in terms of radar performance and availability over the RAF’s troubled [Sentry] E-3D fleet.” The Sentry aircraft had to be grounded in 2016 after being plagued by electrical problems.
