Barack Obama and the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process: The Hostage of Circumstance

Recent comments made by President Obama in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian situation have held a duality that raises key questions as to where his sympathies lie. With December’s unravelling of the ceasefire, following the situation in Gaza, the peace process has been assumed to be unsalvageable. Yet this is a pessimistic analysis: the incoming American administration has monumental obstacles to climb, but they are by no means insuperable.
