Episode 11: Explosive Ordnance in Urban Areas: A New Hope or Utopia?
In a discussion recorded before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Andy Young talks to George Graham, CEO of Humanity and Inclusion UK, about the forthcoming political declaration on Wide Effect Munitions in Urban Areas.
While the Law of Armed Conflict is explicit, actors need to take more note of the impact of explosive ordnance on civilian populations and infrastructure. Unfortunately, as events in Ukraine have shown, such a declaration is not only timely and relevant, but desperately needed.
A Call to Arms Video Series
Produced by the Military Sciences research group as part of its Profession of Arms programme, the project is intended to provide a resource for those wishing to understand current issues in greater detail, particularly those undergoing Professional Military Education (PME). Each episode provides an examination of a specific area of military force or capability, hearing directly from those engaged in developing policy and delivering on programmes.
