Rear Admiral Nick Washer

Rear Admiral Nick Washer joined Nortal Solutions Limited, as the Global Head of Defence in December 2024, having completed a 34-year career in the Royal Navy as a Warfare Officer. He enjoyed a varied career at sea and in staff appointments, has commanded, and is a specialist in communications and electronic warfare.

Interweaving operational and technical roles, he has developed a reputation as an experienced operational digital and cyber professional. He was Assistant Chief of Staff and Chief Information Officer at UK’s Permanent Joint Headquarters; responsible for planning, delivery and assurance of the communication, information services and defensive cyber to enable Chief of Joint Operations command of deployed global operations.

Most recently, as Director Operations in Defence Digital, he was responsible across defence for IT live services, customer engagement, operational planning, operational service management, defensive cyber operations, the management of defence’s electro-magnetic spectrum and high-grade messaging services. Additionally, and concurrently he was appointed as the C5i Mission Assurance Component Commander to Chief of Joint Operations in multiple domains and operational theatres advising and managing on resilience, risk mitigation and investment priorities.
