Biography

Dr Tim Stevens is Reader (Associate Professor) in International Security at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London, and Director of the KCL Cyber Security Research Group. 

He is the author of many books and articles on cybersecurity politics, cyber strategy and cyberwarfare. Recent books include Research Handbook on Cyberwarfare (2024) and What is Cybersecurity For? (2023).

Tim is currently the Principal Investigator of the EPSRC/Dstl-funded project, ‘Cyber Statecraft in an Age of Systemic Competition’ (CyCRAFT) with KCL, RUSI and the University of Bath. He is Visiting Professor at UNED (Madrid), Senior Fellow at Cnam (Paris) and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Higher Education Academy and the Royal Society of Arts.

Tim completed his PhD in War Studies from King’s College London in 2013, which focused on how cybersecurity politics is shaped by elite understandings of time and history. He also holds an MA and MRes in War Studies and a BA (Hons) in Archaeology.
