Dr Gayatri Sahgal

Biography

Dr Gayatri Sahgal is currently a post-doctorate research fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Before beginning her post-doctorate fellowship, she was a Research Associate (part-time) and monitoring and evaluation lead with the Terrorism and Conflict research group at the Royal United Services Institute. Dr Sahgal has worked in South Asia - India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, USA, and the Horn of Africa region – Kenya, Tanzania, and Somalia.

She has extensive experience in managing and leading research projects in Countering Violent Extremism, governance, state-building and public finance management. Her research competencies include quantitative and qualitative analysis and proficiency in using statistical and geographical information software.

Dr Sahgal holds a PhD in Area Studies from the University of Oxford, a postgraduate degree in Public Policy from Brown University and a master’s in development studies from the Institute for Development Studies.
