Gayatri Sahgal is a Research Fellow with RUSI’s East Africa office and has worked in South Asia - India, Bangladesh, North America - USA as well as the Horn of Africa region– Kenya, Tanzania and Somalia.
Gayatri has extensive experience in managing and leading research projects in the field of countering violent extremism, governance, state-building and public service delivery. Her research competencies include quantitative and qualitative analysis as well as proficiency with using statistical and geographical information software.
Gayatri has designed and managed evaluations for organizations such as World Bank, UN, EU and DFID amongst others. Currently, she is leading the Monitoring and Evaluation and Research component of EU’s Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism (STRIVE – II) project in East Africa. Gayatri holds a MA in Public Policy from Brown University (2014) as well as a MA in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies (2008).
