Toby Rumford

Toby Rumford is the Deputy Director for Strategy at the Defence Nuclear Organisation. He has been a civil servant for 20 years working predominantly on Defence strategy and international security matters. He is a keen advocate for UK PONI having benefitted from their activities earlier in my career.

The Defence Nuclear Organisation was established in April 2016, as part of recommendations set out in the 2015 Strategic Defence and Security Review. Their task is to sustain and renew the nuclear deterrent so that it remains credible, effective and protects the people of the UK and our allies. They are responsible for all submarines (from procurement to disposal), Nuclear warheads, skills, related infrastructure and day-to-day nuclear policy. The Defence Nuclear Organisation is a proud sponsor of the UK PONI programme.
