Dr. Pippa
Malmgren

Senior Associate Fellow

Dr. Pippa Malmgren is the Founder of H Robotics which makes AI-led, commercial-use drones. Dr. Malmgren also founded the DRPM Group, which advises institutional investors worldwide on geopolitics and investment trends. She served President George W. Bush in the White House as Special Assistant to the President and had responsibility for financial market issues and terrorism risks to the economy after 911. She was a member of the National Economic Council and served on the President’s Working Group on Corporate Governance and the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets. She is currently a Non-Executive Board Member of the Department of International Trade in the UK.

She is the author of Signals: How Everyday Signs Help Us Navigate the World’s Turbulent Economy (2017) Geopolitics for Investors (2016) and will release The Leadership LAB: Understanding Leadership in the 21st Century in October 2018.

She served as a judge on The Queen’s Enterprise Business Awards in 2018. She also serves on the Drone/UAV Committee of The British Standards Institute. She won the Intelligence Squared Debate on Robotics in 2015. She is ranked in the top 30 Most Influential Economists in the World and in the top 10 “Most Influential in Geopolitics”. She often participates in the Pentagon’s scenario sessions with the Office of Net Assessment and regularly lectures at Sandhurst.

She has a BA from Mount Vernon College and an M.Sc. and PhD from LSE. She completed the Harvard Program on National Security. She has lectured at the University of Texas Austin, Tsinghua University, King’s College and INSEAD She gave the graduation address at the London School of Economics in 2013 and 2016.
