Dr Sari Arho Havrén
Associate Fellow - Specialist in China’s foreign relations
Biography
Dr Sari Arho Havrén is a RUSI Associate Fellow based in Brussels. She specialises in China’s foreign relations, China foresight, and in great power competition. She is also a visiting scholar at the University of Helsinki.
She is a certified futurist, and since 2020, in her role as a Counsellor for Strategy and Foresight at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU, she has lead foresight work in Europe under Business Finland, specialising in geopolitical foresight. Previously, she lived in mainland China and Hong Kong for 15 years, working in private and public sectors, including in Chinese organisations.
Dr Arho Havrén holds a Ph.D. in general history and international relations. In her China expertise role, she was previously affiliated to the George G Marshall European Center for Security Studies as an adjunct professor, and at the Mercator Institute of China Studies (MERICS) as a European China Policy and China Futures Fellow.
