Dr Hassan Gali

Dr Hassan Gali is a Public Policy Consultant at Whiteshield Public Policy and Advisory firm based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Previously, he served as a State Fragilities Policy Economist at the International Growth Centre based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he spearheaded policy initiatives in Sudan. He also worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), where he supported the Bank's Africa expansion strategy.
He holds a Master of Public Policy from LSE, an MSc in Public Policy and Global Health from Durham University, and a medical degree from UMST in Khartoum. His scholarly work notably examines the impact of U.S. sanctions on Sudan's healthcare infrastructure. He's also led and contributed to comprehensive reports on taxation and private sector development in fragile states and continuously consults government, development finance institutions, development agencies and private sector entities.
He also co-founded the Sudan Centre for Strategic Studies, a think tank focused on producing nuanced and contextual policy research in and around Sudan. His focus areas include the political economy of reforms, state capacity building, taxation, development finance in fragile states, nation and state building, and constitution-making.
Dr Gali continues to be engaged in various policy and development projects in Sudan, the GCC and the Horn of Africa.
