Biography

Mark Button has led research for the National Fraud Authority and ACPO on fraud victims, which involved interviews with the largest group of fraud victims to date in the UK. He has also conducted research for Acromas on ‘Crash-for-Cash’ fraudsters. He has been involved in research on fraud measurement with PKF and the Department for International Development. He has also directed the research for the Midlands Fraud Forum, Eversheds and PKF on Sanctions against fraudsters and conducted extensive research on fraud resilience and investigations.

Mark has recently led research for CIFAS on the real cost of staff fraud and a project for VFM on the profile of a household insurance fraudster. He led research for the new annual fraud indicator funded by Experian and PKF Littlejohn. Mark has also recently worked with Ipsos MORI on the 2016 Cyber Security Breaches Survey for HMG.

Mark is currently working with Dr Victoria Wang on a project from the EPSRC on Data Release: Trust, Identity, Privacy and Security. He is also working with “WiSKoS” at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law, Department of Criminology on a project on economic and industrial espionage. Mark was educated at the London School of Economic (PhD), University of Warwick (MA) and the University of Exeter (BA).
