Lieutenant Colonel Alistair Beard was formerly the Chief of the General Staff’s visiting fellow within the Military Science team, RUSI.
A serving Royal Engineer officer, Alistair has extensive experience across the spectrum of engineering capabilities, specialising in close support roles and Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search (EOD&S). At staff, he has held operationally facing posts within 8 Engineer Brigade including the homeland response to UK flooding in 2014. Latterly, he was responsible for the implementation of organisational change of the Royal Engineers under the 2015 Strategic Defence and Security Review for which he was awarded a Chief of General Staff’s commendation.
Alistair has a BA in human geography and an MBA focussed on sustainable change management within the military. His research interests include overseas capacity building, urban warfare and the future of Land Warfare.
