UK Trident

Matthew Savill, Director of Military Sciences at London-based think tank the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) told Express.co.uk it was difficult to draw any technical conclusions, or even to know if there are common factors with the 2016 failure. He stressed: “Overall, Trident has a good record, with the US announcing there have been 191 successful test firings, and we believe a single figure number of failures in that time (compared with a reported 50 percent failure rate for the Russian Bulava missile recently accepted into service). A US submarine successfully fired a Trident missile as recently as October 2023.”
