Sanctions alone are not going to put enough pressure on the regime to really turn this around, states RUSI expert, Helena Wood. "The types of people like Putin, Lavrov and their kind of web of oligarchs and conscripts propping up that regime tend not to hold assets in their own names, but through a web of obscure and murky shell companies across the globe. That's why we were quite pleased at the Royal United Services Institute to see a legitimate domestic perspective. The UK is focusing not only on sanctions, but also taking action domestically against the web of property use and high end wealth sequestered in the UK's own economy domestically."
