Dr Sidharth Kaushal, a research fellow at Royal United Services Institute, said: “UAVs of this kind can be useful to help soldiers navigate complex terrain such as urban spaces while minimising risk to themselves.” He added that UAV development has become more important not just because they can have a reconnaissance role providing “situational awareness”, but also because they can make “existing [weapon] capabilities much more lethal”.
