26-27 March: Introduction to Nuclear Policy Training Course

UK PONI will host its annual introductory training course covering the basics of nuclear policy for early career professionals. The training course will consist of a series of seminars from RUSI fellows and external experts, from the UK Ministry of Defence as well as and think tanks and other academic organisations working on nuclear policy. Malcolm Chalmers, Deputy Director-General at RUSI, and Andrew Futter, Professor of International Politics at the University of Leicester, will chair the sessions. This workshop is aimed at early career professionals working in the nuclear field – whether in academia, government or industry – who have not yet had significant exposure to nuclear policy issues. We particularly encourage those working in scientific, engineering and technical roles to attend, and there will be plenty of time in each session for an interactive Q&A with the expert speakers.

Save the Date: UK PONI Annual Conference 2024

10 September, 61 Whitehall, London

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our 2024 Annual Conference which will be held on Tuesday 10 September at RUSI in London.

The Annual Conference is a hallmark of the UK Project on Nuclear Issues, having established itself as the premier UK forum for showcasing the expertise of a new generation. By bringing together emerging and established experts from across the nuclear field, the conference promotes a diverse, informed dialogue on pressing nuclear topics.

The call for proposals will be released in early March. UK PONI encourages presentation proposals from graduate students, emerging technical specialists, and other early career professionals, including those with military experience. UK PONI is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment, and we thus welcome applications from women, persons with disabilities, and underrepresented minorities.

If you are thinking about applying and would like to learn more, you can watch the recordings from last year’s panels and keep an eye on our socials for more news.
