The call for proposals to present at the UK PONI Annual Conference 2024 is currently open!

Selected candidates will receive support from RUSI experts, who will help them refine their ideas and research. They will have the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience, receive feedback on their research from a diverse field of experts in the nuclear community and build connections with representatives from across the nuclear enterprise.

We encourage proposals that address this year’s designated topics from a wide range of viewpoints, including both technical and policy perspectives.

Applications from budding professionals and students of nuclear issues are welcome, and in fact, encouraged! We are actively seeking presentation proposals from graduate students, emerging technical specialists, and other early career professionals, including those with military experience. UK PONI is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment, and we thus warmly welcome applications from women, persons with disabilities, and underrepresented minorities.

Look out for the upcoming publication of short written pieces from speakers at the 2023 Annual Conference. As we countdown to this year’s big event, they will be sharing their research and insights monthly in the form of Nuclear Reactions.

Pieces will look at topics including:

• The AUKUS Partnership in the New Nuclear Age
• Continuity and Change in the UK’s Approach to deterrence working on nuclear issues.
• Nuclear security and Non-proliferation in a New Era for Nuclear Energy
• Deciphering Chinese Nuclear Thinking

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our 2024 Annual Conference which will be held on Tuesday 10 September at RUSI in London.

The Annual Conference is the foremost UK forum spotlighting the expertise of a new generation, and a hallmark of the UK Project on Nuclear Issues. It will convene together emerging and established experts from all corners of the nuclear field, promoting a diverse, informed dialogue on today’s most pertinent and pressing nuclear issues.

Registrations will open in early July, so if you are thinking about joining us save the date in your calendar!
