Tensions on the Korean Peninsula

North Korea

quote

I think what this recent bout of tensions is really demonstrating is North Korea's agency in the peace process and it's diplomatic efforts with both South Korea and the US. The peace process is not something the South Korean administration can impose on the North. It has to be a two-way conversation. The current situation is really demonstrating that North Korea is not prioritising diplomacy right now. And actually, it had other incentives in mind, other approaches in mind, to deal with that relationship, and clearly diplomacy is not at the top of it's agenda.
