“In terms of the pace of things on the ground, it won’t make any difference at all,” said Justin Bronk, an air-combat specialist with the UK-defence think-tank the Royal United Services Institute. “But deploying F-35 to Iraq or Syria would potentially increase the pace at which we get a fuller understanding of what it is and isn’t capable of.”
