Episode 14: Innovation and Great Power Competition
The competition to achieve a first-mover advantage in harnessing the transformative technologies of the future is vital.
In an era in which competitor approaches to civil–military fusion are gathering pace, an understanding of how defence and civilian innovation can reinforce one another is also crucial to competitive success. Western policymakers and planners will need to understand the strengths and fragilities of peer competitors’ innovation ecosystems and the competitive asymmetries that lie therein.
In this Adversarial Studies seminar, Dr Nick Wright discusses some of the findings from recent work that he has conducted with the Pentagon’s Joint Staff on the ways in which Western and allied countries can maintain their innovative edge.
