The failure of allied forces to uncover weapons of mass destruction in Iraq has left the public sceptical about the likelihood of such weapons being used in an attack. However, while terrorist groups have not used WMD in attacks, terrorist attacks have increased since the US invasion of Iraq. The government must not let the loss of public support over the issue of WMD lead to a loss of support over the terrorist threat in general, which remains high.
