Beckett at RUSI climate change
In her first year as Foreign Secretary, Margaret Beckett has made a priority of highlighting the threat of an unstable climate. She strongly believes that in the years ahead, climate security will become an increasingly important security and foreign policy issue. It is a subject in which the Royal United Services Institute has long been interested and on 10 May, Beckett gave a lecture at RUSI, outlining her case and praising the institute’s “ground-breaking” work in helping the government to understand better the links between climate, energy and security.
