RUSI Welcomes H. E. Alexander Downer as Senior Associate Fellow
Alexander Downer is currently the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and was formerly the country’s longest-serving Foreign Minister. Mr Downer has had a long and distinguished political career in Australia, and was until recently the United Nations Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Cyprus.
Welcoming Mr Downer to RUSI, Director-General Dr Karin von Hippel said: 'We are delighted to have one of Australia’s most distinguished diplomats join RUSI as Senior Associate Fellow.  Alexander Downer brings frontline policy knowledge of the Asia-Pacific region and senior diplomatic expertise, including mediation experience in Cyprus. He will no doubt be a crucial resource to RUSI and the wider defence and security community.'
