RUSI secures $1 Million donation for New Research Fund
The Fund has been made possible by the generous contribution of an anonymous donor.
This Fund will enable RUSI to get ahead of the curve in responding to new trends in defence and security, and rapidly producing cutting-edge research to shape the national and international debate. The funds will give RUSI the flexibility to pursue under-examined or unforeseen critical events as and when they occur, and help kick start longer term projects. The projects that are made possible by this Fund will be chosen and designed to achieve the greatest impact on policy debates.
RUSI would like to pay tribute to the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, and who has pledged $1 million (£750,000) for this new Fund over the next five years.
Dr Karin von Hippel, RUSI’s Director-General said “In today’s rapidly moving defence and security environment, it is critical to stay on top of important trends. This Fund will ensure that RUSI can analyse, debate and provide practical policy recommendations, in addition to the regular research agenda. We are extremely grateful to the donor for helping RUSI to become even more nimble!”
Professor Malcolm Chalmers, RUSI’s Deputy Director-General said “As Director of our research work, I am delighted to have the additional flexibility that this new Fund will provide. It provides significant new resources for working on topics of profound national and international concern. I would like to extend my deep thanks to our donor for this generous gift.”
Paul Summerfield, RUSI’s Director of Development said “This philanthropic gift is one of the largest RUSI has ever received. We are thrilled to have this level of support and are incredibly grateful to the donor.”
