New Framework on Countering Violent Extremism published
20 July 2018
Written by Sebastien Feve of Global Center on Cooperative Security and Dr Mohammed Elshimi of RUS it establishes a framework to develop and evaluate National Action Plans (NAPs) on preventing and countering violent extremism
Answering the 2015 call by the UN Secretary-General to “consider developing a national plan of action to prevent violent extremism which sets national priorities for addressing the local drivers of violent extremism”, the framework aims to improve approaches to Prevent and Counter Violent Extremism strategic planning by national authorities.
This framework may enable a range of stakeholders to better assess the strengths and weaknesses of new or existing P/CVE NAPs, as well as provide basic guidelines to support and further improve their development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
