Martin van Creveld is one of the leading experts on military history and strategy, world wide.

Born in the Netherlands, educated in Jerusalem and London, Professor van Creveld has been on the faculty of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, since 1971.  He is the author of eighteen books, which have been translated into sixteen languages; a new volume, The Changing Face of War, is due to be published in January 2006. He has consulted military establishments in many countries, and taught or lectured at countless institutions of higher learning, military and civilian, throughout the world.
