Japan's National Institute of Defence Studies Hosts RUSI Visiting Fellow

RUSI is pleased to announce that the National Institute of Defence Studies in Japan will be hosting a RUSI Visiting Fellow from 20 April to 20 June of this year.

Before joining RUSI John Palmer worked at the Ministry of Defence and has served in a wide range of posts relating to defence procurement, policy, finance and defence sales.

From 2000-2003 he was Private Secretary to the Chief of Defence Procurement, and in 2004 he created the post of First Secretary Defence Supply (in the British Embassy in Tokyo), supervising the introduction into service of the AgustaWestland EH101 and supporting UK defence sales to Japan.

He retired from the MOD at the end of 2008.

He was educated at King Henry VIII Grammar School Coventry and St John’s College Oxford, where he took a First in Greats.
