Biography

Sir Kevin Tebbit was Permanent Secretary at the UK Ministry of Defence from 1998 to 2005, after a short period as Director of GCHQ and, previously, as Deputy Under Secretary for Defence and Intelligence at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

His early career was at the MOD, followed by nearly 20 years with the FCO, serving overseas at the UK Delegation to NATO in Brussels, the British  Embassy Ankara, as Director of Cabinet to the NATO Secretary General, Lord Carrington, and as Counsellor at the British Embassy in Washington DC. 

Since retiring from Government service, Sir Kevin has been engaged in business, academia and advisory roles. Currently, he is a Non-Executive Director of Adarga (an AI company in defence and security), a Council member of RISC (the UK security industries trades association), Trustee of the Airey Neave Trust, Visiting Professor at King’s College London, and a RUSI Distinguished Fellow.
