Tim Symington

Tim Symington is a senior visiting research fellow at Kings College London, Department of War Studies. Tim has over 30 years working in the UK defence and security community. He joined the Ministry of Defence in 1992 where he spent 20 years working on a wide variety of security threats, including terrorism, cyber and organised crime.

In 2013 he joined the Board of the National Crime Agency where he was Intelligence Director and later Director of Change. From 2018 to 2020 he worked for Lloyds Banking Group, building new intelligence capability for preventing fraud and money laundering. Tim now works as an independent intelligence and security advisor. He joined Kings College in May 2020.
