Leigh co-leads Reed Smith’s International Trade and National Security team, she is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Leigh is based in London and Washington DC and is known for both her deep understanding of the legal regimes that govern international trade and her ability to translate that knowledge into practical solutions and advice. Leigh’s work spans a number of industries including shipping/maritime and energy and natural resources. She helps clients navigate US, European Union and UK sanctions and export controls. Her work also involves practice before CFIUS in the United States and advising companies on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act.
Leigh and the practice group are both ranked in Chambers USA for 'International Trade: Export Controls and Economic Sanctions' and in Legal 500 USA for “International Trade”. Last year, for the second year running, Leigh was named as one of the top 10 maritime lawyers by Lloyd’s List, noting that Leigh is 'arguably the best-known name in the specialism'. Leigh is featured as a Star Lawyer by independent research company Acritas due to excellent feedback from clients and has also featured in Brummell Magazine's Inspirational Women List. Leigh is a frequent speaker on sanctions/export control issues for both industry and the media.
