Charlotte Davies
Research FellowOrganised Crime and PolicingBiography
Charlotte is a Research Fellow in the Organised Crime and Policing team at RUSI.
Charlotte started her career as a public sector intelligence analyst, where she worked on priority volume and serious offences and advised crime prevention and reduction strategies developed by multi-agency and community partnerships. She subsequently joined the non-profit sector where she focused upon environmental crime, and contributed to investigations, research and policy publications that sought to mainstream the issue and convergent threats and promote solutions-based responses in policy and enforcement. Latterly and as an independent consultant, she complemented this experience through delivering research on a range of topics related to biodiversity threats and international trade.
She has conducted research, advocacy and outreach in countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America, has helped to deliver capacity development and training inputs for enforcement officers through workshops and multimedia knowledge products, and has participated in collaborative networks and projects focussed upon issues such as transnational wildlife trafficking, cyber-enabled wildlife crime and timber governance.
Charlotte holds a BA (Hons) in Politics and East European Studies from UCL SSEES, where she focussed upon the politics of the Cold War and post-Socialist societies, and an MSc in Crime Science and Intelligence (Distinction) from the University of Portsmouth, during which time she conducted primary research into the intelligence practices of non-governmental organisations.
