Alexander Babuta was a Research Fellow at RUSI before leaving in February 2021. His research covers a range of areas relating to national security, intelligence policy, digital policing and emerging technologies.
He is Co-Director of the Observatory for Monitoring Data-Driven Approaches to COVID-19, a Member of the Essex Centre for Data Analytics Data Ethics Committee, a SPRITE+ Expert Fellow (Security, Privacy, Identity and Trust Engagement Network), and is currently studying for a Doctorate in Policing, Crime and Security. His doctoral research will critically assess data-driven approaches to violence risk assessment.
He holds an MSc with Distinction in Crime Science from University College London (UCL), where his dissertation explored the use of data science methods for police risk assessment of missing children. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from UCL.
