Natia Seskuria, who is a Tbilisi-based analyst at the Royal United Services Institute think tank in London, said that the decision by Zourabichvili to call for protests was “a risky, but much-expected move”. “It is an unusual role for her to lead the protests, yet stakes are very high for her since she chose the most direct form of confrontation with Georgian Dream,” she said. “Georgian Dream’s response will depend on the scale of the protests as well as how harsh the international response would be."
