Britain and its allies are at the dawn of a third nuclear age, the head of the armed forces has warned, as he said it was time to “stiffen the nation’s resolve”. Admiral Sir Tony Radakin said the outlook for the future was “more contested, more ambiguous and more dangerous than we have known in our careers”. Delivering his annual lecture at the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi), he warned of the spread of nuclear weapons and more devastating technologies which would present Nato with multiple dilemmas.
