Welcome to the summer edition of FUSION!
We felt very fortunate to be able to organise our Annual Conference in person this year to give participants the opportunity to connect face-to-face once again. If you weren’t able to take part in the event or you want to revisit the keynote by Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins (US State Department) and the fireside chat with Samantha Job (FCDO), you can watch all of the sessions here.
We are currently working on our autumn events and publications, so please follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn to stay in touch and find out more about our upcoming activities.
For collaboration opportunities and participation at events, feel free to contact us to discuss at ukponi@rusi.org.
I wish you all a relaxing, peaceful, and safe summer holiday.
With best wishes,
Ana

The Hegemon's Toolkit
At a moment when the nuclear nonproliferation regime is under duress, The Hegemon’s Tool Kit provides a trenchant analysis of the international system that has, for more than fifty years, controlled the spread of these catastrophic weapons. Why do most states in the international system adhere to the nuclear nonproliferation regime? The answer lies in decades of painstaking efforts undertaken by the US government. As the most powerful state during the nuclear age, the United States had many tools with which to persuade other states to join or otherwise support nonproliferation agreements. The waning of US global influence, Gibbons shows in The Hegemon’s Tool Kit, is a key threat to the nonproliferation regime. So, too, is the deepening global divide over progress on nuclear disarmament. Dr Rebecca Davis Gibbons is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Southern Maine.

Call for Submissions, Nuclear Security Policy Menu Series
The International Nuclear Security Forum and Nuclear Threat Initiative’s series aims to get ahead of the next nuclear or radiological security incident. It solicits nuclear security policy proposals that might appear politically risky or unrealistic today but could gain traction in the aftermath of a nuclear or radiological event. By compiling a wide range of international, regional, and local policy proposals, this menu will provide policymakers with forward-leaning nuclear security regulation options to work towards.
