Recording: Integrated Review Update with Tobias Ellwood MP: Implications for UK Defence


The Rt Hon Tobias Ellwood MP, Chair of the Defence Select Committee of the House of Commons, gave an address on the implications for UK defence following the recent publication of the update to the Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy.

Overview

Against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and rising global tensions with China, the Integrated Review refresh provided an opportunity for the UK government to reassess current and emerging threats and upgrade its defence posture. Mr Ellwood reflected on the outcomes of the update to the Integrated Review and its implications for UK defence and international security.

The event was chaired by Tom McKane, RUSI Distinguished Fellow and former acting Permanent Secretary, UK Ministry of Defence.

The Rt Hon Tobias Ellwood MP represents Bournemouth East in Parliament. He was previously Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence People and Veterans at the Ministry of Defence (2017–2019) and Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Middle East and Africa at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2014–2017).
