UK defence industry calls for clarity on ‘buy British’ policy

Trevor Taylor, an analyst with the defence think-tank the Royal United Services Institute, said compromises in procurement were inevitable because of conflicting pressures on the defence sector. The close relationship with the US, which brings a desire to buy from America, conflicts with the desire to help the domestic industry. The result, he said, was that “there is no real coherent message in terms of strategy”.
