Far from clinging desperately to power, Putin is now looking for a way out

After all, Putin has for some time been grappling with the question of his own future. He has created a hyper-presidential system, with no meaningful checks on the Kremlin’s power. Yet having ensured that he is responsible for everything, he is increasingly obviously bored with most of the challenges on his desk.
