The Pakistani Economy: A Much-Neglected Front in the Struggle Against Terrorism

Years of near-sightedness, unfavourable legislation, imbalances, and disproportionate defence spending have lead to a crisis of confidence in the Pakistani economy, and the investment climate is in its worst state in decades. As a result, a serious international threat emanates from the economy of Pakistan, a struggling nation in a region where some of the world’s most dangerous terrorist organisations have established working relationships and operational infrastructure.
