Preventing Organised Crime: European Approaches and Responses in Practice and Policy
Report on the two-day annual conference of the Strategic Hub for Organised Crime Research (SHOC) in partnership with the UK Home Office and the Bundeskriminalamt Germany (the Federal Criminal Police Office), and co-funded by the Internal Security Fund of the European Union.
On 23 and 24 October, the Strategic Hub for Organised Crime Research (SHOC) held its Annual Conference. This year’s theme was 'Preventing Organised Crime: European Approaches and Responses in Practice and Policy'.
SHOC organised the event in partnership with the UK Home Office and the German Federal Police. Participants included representatives of the EU Research Network on Organised Crime, from the Dutch Ministry of Justice, the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, the Swedish Police, the Home Office, the German Federal Police, and Europol.
The conference aimed to share and explore practical and research knowledge, and to develop further cooperation among practitioners, policymakers and academics within and beyond the UK.
About SHOC
The Strategic Hub for Organised Crime Research (SHOC) was first launched in December 2014 by RUSI. In December 2015, the SHOC received a three-year grant from the Economic and Social Research Council through the Partnership for Conflict, Crime and Security Research, to further develop the Hub.
The central aim of SHOC is to bring together academics, practitioners and policymakers to create a collaborative network of experts, working to improve the understanding of and responses to serious and organised crime.
SHOC is made up of a team of RUSI researchers who contribute to developing, managing and growing the Hub.
