Dr Jeremy Stocker is an Associate Fellow at RUSI. He served as a seaman officer in the Royal Navy for twenty years, specialising in air defence, before transferring to the Royal Naval Reserve in 1996.
Commander Stocker has seen active service in the Persian Gulf and in Afghanistan. He now serves on the Directing Staff of the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC), Shrivenham.
His publications include Britain and Ballistic Missile Defence 1942-2002 (London: Frank Cass, 2004), Britain's Role in US Missile Defense (Carlisle VA: SSI, 2004) and The United Kingdom and Nuclear Deterrence Adelphi Paper 386 (London: IISS, 2007).
Dr Stocker is a regular conference speaker and contributes to academic and professional journals on both sides of the Atlantic. He has also advised all three UK main political parties on the subjects of missile defence and nuclear deterrence, and given evidence to the House of Commons Defence Committee.
He has a BA from the University of Reading and an MA and PhD from the University of Hull.
