Benedict Wilkinson is an Associate Fellow of RUSI. He previously was Head of Security and Counter-Terrorism at RUSI. In this role, he focused primarily on issues relating to domestic terrorism and its prevention; his specific research interests include radicalisation and extremism in the UK and the Middle East, UK counter-terrorism policy, and UK intelligence issues.
Benedict read Classics at Jesus College, Cambridge gaining a Distinction at both undergraduate and MPhil levels. In 2009, he was awarded a distinction in his MA in Terrorism, Security and Society at King's College London.
In addition to his role at RUSI, he is also completing a Ph.D at King's under the supervision of Professor Sir Lawrence Freedman. His Ph.D examines recent developments in the Counter-Extremism Initiatives currently in operation in Egypt, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. In conjunction with his Ph.D, he is learning Arabic at the School of Oriental and African Studies.
