RUSI Expert Gives Evidence to Parliamentary Treasury Committee

houses parliament signpost

Helena Wood, Associate Fellow at RUSI's Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies, gave evidence in front of the House of Commons Treasury Committee on 8 July.

The Parliamentary Treasury Committee is holding an inquiry into economic crime, reviewing what progress has been made in combatting economic crime since the Committee’s inquiry on the subject during the previous Parliament.

Helena Wood gave a mixed scorecard on the Government's progress in implementing the UK's Economic Crime Plan. While there has been momentum in terms of policy change, operational response capabilities are lacking. Under a second Economic Crime Plan, a more action-oriented response is needed to drive significant and lasting change in the UK's response to economic crime.
